Md Mahbubor Rahman has been appointed as General Manager of Le Méridien Angkor.

He had previously been based in Bangkok as Cluster Director of Finance for four properties within Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

His career with Starwood spans more than 20 years, during which time he has worked for the group in five countries and undertaken four hotel openings along with two city hotel conversions.

A Bangladeshi national, Mr Rahman graduated as a Master of Accounting (MCom) from the University of Dhaka in 1989, and has been a Fellow Member since 1999 of the Institute of Cost and Management Accounts of Bangladesh & South Asian Federation
of Accountants (SAFA).

His career in the hotel industry began in 1994 when he was appointed Chief Accountant at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel in Bangladesh. He was later promoted to Assistant Financial Controller at the same property, before becoming Financial Controller at Sheraton Penang Hotel in Malaysia in 2001.

In 2002 he was transferred as Financial Controller to Four Points By Sheraton Seoul, during the conversion of what had been the Olympia hotel to the Four Points By Sheraton brand.

Mr Rahman became Financial Controller of Sheraton Hanoi Hotel in Vietnam in 2003, a position he held until 2007 when he moved to Bangkok, initially as Cluster Director of Finance for Plaza Athenee and Le Méridien Bangkok. His role was expanded in 2012 when Vana Belle in Koh Samui and Sheraton Samui Resort were added to the portfolio.

Mahbubor Rahman is married, with two teenage children. He is a visiting lecturer at Mahidol International University in Bangkok, and in his leisure time enjoys music and is a keen gardener.

“My management philosophy is always People First,” he says. “If our associates are happy, they will provide good service to the guest and in turn that guest will come back. I would like to create a winning team culture where the team always works for results
and not just for survival.”
